SUMMARY FOE AMERICA AND EUROPE.
Our last summary was published on the 6th July, and on the same day we were able to publish English news via Suez. On the 11th we received news via Australia from England by telegraph to Melbourne up to June 22nd — bringing us within 19 days of the old country. The Nebraska bringing the English mail arrived at Auckland on the 20th July, bringing telegraphic news to the 20th June only. In consequence of the outbreak of small pox in this colony, traced to infection from the Nebraska on her previous trip, this vessel was on her arrival here placed into quarantine from which she has been realeased in time to take the outward mails. Several fatal cases of this disease have occurred in the colony, but according to present appearances the spread of the disorder has been checked. Vaccination has been largely resorted, and the public alarm which had reached a high pitch has entirely subsided.
