The crew are all safe, and the vessel is not injured up to the present. A public meeting is covened for Friday, to fit out a prospecting party to proceed to Tuhua. At the lialf-yeaily meeting of the New Zealand Insurance Company a dividend of ten per cent, was ' declared, £lo,QOO was carried to re-insurance fund, and £2,107 was carried forward to the next half year. At a meeting of blacksmiths it was resolved to demand the nine hours' system throughout the trade. At present ten hours is the rule in some shops. An English" company has offered to construct a railway from Point Russell to the Thames. The offer has been forwarded to the Minister of Works. The terms are kept secret. The prospectuses of the South British Fire and Marine Insurance Company are issued. The capital is to be £50,000 in 25,000 shares. The liability is to be unlimited. The shares are to be allotted as follows: — One-fourih in Auckland, one- fourth Dunedin, threesixteenths Christchurch, one-eighth Wel--1 lington, three-sixteenths between Nelson, Wanganui, and Napier. Brown's bill for malting (he Superintendent chief of the Executive, and governable by a majority of the Executive, was withdrawn last night, and the Council was prorogued. Tnvercargill, Thursday. Tbe search parly has just returned from the West Coast to Riverton. They report that on the 17th of April at Look-ing-glass Bay they found some traces of wreck, consisting of some pieces of kauri, red pine boards, and timber cases. Between Cres well's and Thompson's Sound they saw part of a vessel's bowsprit, large quantities of ship's planking, broken oais, and pieces of boats. The sea being smooth and the water clear, the party discovered in two fathoms of water some books and papers. They also recovered two bundles of papers on files, an old illustrated Family Bible, a pair of bead-worked carpet slippers, a broken writing desk., a cheque book bearing date November, 1871. Tho party examined every nook and corner iv that locality coastways. Some of the papers appeared to be invoices of goods supplied to Whitmore , of Grey mouth.
