Sailed— Queen of the South, for London. Arrived — Canterbury, from Hokitika. Duxedin, Friday. The play in the interprovincinl cricket match recommenced this morning at 11.45. Fowler and Savill, who were in when the stumps were drawn, made a determined stand, and the bowling was bad, owing to the strong north-west gale. Saull saw seven wickets fall, and scored 58. Fowler sen red 40. The wickets then fell fast, and the innings then terminated shortly after one o'clock for a total of 161, of which fifteen were extras. Otago commenced the second innings at ten minutes past three, and at four o'clock seven wickets had fallen for twenty. After a short time further, the last wicket fell for forty-three. Otago in two innings thus tying Canterbury's one. Price went in and scored the single run required to secure the victory for Canterbury. Markets — There are no transactions in wheat, and the market is bare at 55.; Oats are quiet at 2s to 2s 2d. Flour is brisk at £12 10s to £13. Bran is becoming scarce, and is wonh 2s lOd. Bluff, Friday. The Claude Hamilton is anchored at the Hends, having put back last uight through stress of weather. Hokitika, Friday. A whale, fifty- four feet in length, has been cast ashore opposite Montizuma. Mr Bastings, of the Montizuma Hotel, secured it as his prize. All the town has gone to see it. Markets. — Adelaide flour, £16 10s to £17 ; Canterbury flour, £14 to £15 ; oats, 3s 6d ; new potatoes, £o 10s; bran, Is Gd; New Zealand chaff, £12 10s ; Australian do, £13 10s ; maize, ss. Westport, Friday. No 12 North Kelly's line of reef has struck the reef with paying gold. Charleston, Friday. Third days' races. — Free Handicap of 30 soys, 3 miles— Task, 1 ; Why Not's rider was thrown, and so Jost the race. Stewards' Purse, 20 soys, mile heats — Why Not, 1 ; XXX, a ; Task, 3. Why. Not won easily. The hack race was won by Flrttcatcher. One of the horses (Kohler) which started for tbe Charleston Handicap on the second day, and got hurt, has had to be shot.
