In the Professional Whaleboat race, the Clio was Ist ; the Tito Kowaru, 2nd ; Phantom, 3rd. Tito led, but the Clio fouled her. Logan protested, but the decision was given in favor of the Clio. In the Amateur Whaleboat race, Tito Kowaru won by half a mile. The Queen, the second boat, protested against. Edmonds as coxswain, but the protest was disallowed. The Wellington boats withdraw from all the other races in consequence of the number of protests entered by the Nelson boats. Logan put porth a challenge to pull the Clio for £85 at 0 o'clock the following morn ing. 8 o'clock. — Challenge race does not come off in the morning. The Taranaki leaves at forenoon. outrage intended. They arrested and ironed the offenders, and will probably make examples of them. Breadstuffs are quiet. A team of bullocks was killed by lightning at Bathurst. Adelaide, December 20. There is a perfect plague of locusts. Wheat is firm at 4s lOd. It is rumored that the Government will not take persons with the Northern Expedition intending to prospect for gold, for fear that the development of a goldfiold will cause their employees to leave the service and tako to the gold digging. ________________
