Co., renter's agents.] Bluff, Thursday, 1.20 p.m. Alexandra, November 27. — Tho Rangoon, in leaving Galle Vi arbor for Australia, on the evening of the Ist of November, struck a rock and foundered at midnight in the roads outside in fifteen fathoms of water. The passengers, and thirteen mail bags from China, India, and Ceylon, were saved. The vessel was in the pilot's charge. The wreck is recoverable. All the officers of the Rangoon are detained at Galle, pending enquiry. No passengers of note. Mr and Mr* Russell for New Zealand. The mineral resources of New Zealand are attracting attention. Wool. — The fourth series opened on the 14th; will closo llth Ot. Total arrivals 130,347, including 38,332 from New Zealand. Home trade well represented ; biddings spirited. Average advance — Id to l-*-d on best July rates ; since then an advance on Australian and Cape, 2d to 3d on fleece and scoured, and a penny on greasy. Advance in the price of money towards the end of the series affected the wool sales. Tallow brisk ; prices 3s dearer. Hides: Only 700 of New Zealand offered, which commanded an advance. Horns: No sale. Colonial wheat : 6 is to 03s ; very fine, G-Js to 655, scarce, and in good ..demand; prices expected to be maintained. Adelaide flour, 40s to 435. New Zealand flax market firm. Steady demand at advanced rates. 1150 bales sold. Ordinary rough, £10 5s to £Ql 10s ; medium, half-dressed, £Q3 to £27 15s; good medium to good, £29 to £31. Since then 500 bales at auction were placed at similar rates. Two casks of pale New Zealand honey sold at 555. New Zealand sixes 109 to li 1 j fives, 09£ to 100£; fives, consolidated, 100 to 101 ; New Zealand Loan and Agency, i to f premium ; Nesv Zealand Trust and Loan, I § premium; Otago and Southland Investment, •§■ premium. Consols, 92f, 02| to 3 per cent. Shipping — Sailed : For Wellington, Celasno ; for Wanganui, Malay. Freights from Liverpool to Auckland, 30s to 40s ; to Otago from Glasgow, 35s to 40s. From New Zealand to London, 1,000 tons register, fd per pound for wool, to load in January.
