Tho late Professor William Gibson used to relate that while going through the wards of a hospital with Volpoau, that surgeon brought him to tho bedside of two men who wore under treatment for some slight fracture. ' Would you believe it,' said Velpeau, theso men have made a living for the last fifteen years by being knocked down and run over ! When they see a light vehicle driven by some wealthy person coming by, they stop acrosß the street, and they arc sure to bo ruu over, picked up and carried to some hospital, and then they sue for damages. When their money becomes exhausted they begin again. Nearly every bone in their bodies has been broken.' ' Good morning, uncle j how do you do ?' 'I am quito well, as you sec.' ' I'll bet ten dollars you don't know what I'vo come to soe you for.' ' Money, of course ; you never cotne to see me but for that.' ' You have lost ten dollars, my dear uncle. I came to ask you how ia aunt ?' Johnny was tolling big ma how ho was going to drees and show off when he was a man. His ma asked, ' Johnny, what do you expect to do for a living whon you get to be a man ?' ' Woll, I'll get married, and lodgo with my wifo's pa.'
