OtaGO.— The " Daily Times" of the latest date reports : — ln spirits, a depressed feeling is still apparent ; transactions have been very light, and prices are not at present likely to alter for the better. Light shipments of malt liquors in glass have enabled importers to place parcels arriving without difficulty at full prices. In teas there have been but few sales of any note. For sugars there has been a fair demand in trade parcels, but nothing of note occurring from first hands. The arrival of the Venus from Mauritius has added to stocks, which aro not now very bare. In hemp goods, there aro reported light sales of woolpack3 at 4.3 9d to 4s lOd ; corusacks still neglected ; shipments of both are, however, light. There have been small transactions in malt at rates nearly equal to last, adding the increase of duty. Hops have beon in enquiry, but the late advices have so far unsettled quotations that holders and buyers have scarcely been able to meet. Galvanized iron and fencing wires are both in demand ; of both articles, the present stocks aro lighter, and shipments coming forward will all be wanted. Tho grain market; shows no essential alteration. Good wheats are not coming forward plentifully, but with no disposition on the part of millers to increase stocks, prices keep easy at ss. Flour moves slightly more freely. Quotations arc still £13 to £13 10s, nominal. Oats of best quality dull at 2a. Barley, firat-class, enquired for, but no supplies, and quotations not reliable. Tho cargo of sugars, ex Venus, from Mauritius, were offered at Messrs M'Landress, Hepburn & Co's rooms on the 21st. The circumstance of the arrival of another cargo seemed to dull the competition, and the whole of the shipment was not placed. The fine whites, and nearly all the yellow crystals and counters, were, however, moved at rates nearly equalling those of the last public salo ; while, with one exception, the brown crystals and rations were passed. Rates realised were, for fine whites, £38 17s 6d to £38 ; white crystals, £35 17s Gd ; pale yellow crystals, £3i 15s ; fine yellow counters, £33 10s ; and rations, £28 15s.
