. —^ Mebbouene. — Tho "Argus" of (ho 11th contains the following remarks : — la breadstuffs tho demand for flour is maintained on a most trifling scale. Quotations Bland at £12 15s to £13. We understand that the cargo of the E. M. Young, reported as just having arrived at Sydney from Valparaiso, consists of about 470 tona of flour. There is little or no inquiry for wheat. Prirao "Adelaide is nominally quoted at 5s lid to 6s. New Zealand and secondary qualities are wanted, but there is little offering. Oats are not muoli noticed, and small lota for the supply of immediate wants are disposed of at 3s 2d for common feeding, to 3s 7d for milling samples. Maize is very firm at 3slO£d to 3s lid for parcels, and up to 43 is obtained for small lots. Since tho arrival of the Mario from Mauritius, a good deal of excitement has prevailed in regard to sugars, and considerable parcels of fine whites have been taken up at £41 10s, an advance of nearly 30b, Tho Tenue
and Queen of the South were loading for New Zealand ; the first named vessel was taking 220 tons to Dunedin at 70a freight, and 120 tons to Lyttelton at 72s 6d freight. Tho Sir Humphrey Davy had left on the 27th Soptember with tho Xantho's cargo of Bourbon angar— 4l2 tons— for Melbourne or Sydney, at a freight of 60s. Finest white crystal sugars were not obtainable, the markets having been cleared for Bombay by the Arabs. In teas we hear of further sales of half-chests nnd boxes, ox Tranquobnr, having been effected at Is 6d to Is Bd, but pending the auction sale to come off on Monday there ie not much anxiety evinced to purchase at prcßcnt. Tobaccoes are very firm. We observe that the first public sale of Cameron's new season goods will bo held on Monday, when 478 packages ex Hippolyta, consisting of Venus tens and half-pounds, also Two Seas and Navies, will be offered ; the quality and make of the shipment appears to bo perfect. Hobaht Town.- -The "Mercury," of the 3rd, reports :— Flour is still quoted at £11 10 a per ton, and wheat at 5s to 5s 3d per bushel, There is a prospect of some wheat being shipped from this port for England by the wool ships now in port. Lattnceston.— The "Cornwall Chronicle of tho Ist instant reports :— Flour, £10 10s to £11 per ton ; wheat, 4a 9d to 5s per bushel ; feed oats at 2e 4d to 2s 6d j English barley, 3s fid per bushel; fine sharps, £6^ coarse ditto, £4 10s ; bran, £3 per ton. Potatoes, wholesale, £1 per ton ; retail, Is 6d to 2s per cwt. Potted butter is quoted according to quality, from 4d to 8d per lb ; fresh butter, 6d to 9d per Ib.
