ANNUAL REPORT OF C.V.F.B.
« The annual meeting of fche Central Volunteer Fire Brigade was held at the Odd Fellows Hall, on Tuesday evening last, fche 7th instant, when a large number of the Brigade were present. Captain Moss in the chair, who informed tho meeting thafc he had hoped thafc some of fcho Insurance Agents would havo been present fco conduct the business as on former occasions, bufc he supposed the weather had kept some, and others wore attending to their duties in fche Assembly. Ifc was apparent fco him, and no doubfc to the meeting, that their absence showed that; fchey had every confidence in the working and management of fche brigade. The Secretary then road the annual report, which was received and adopted. The Treasurer was then called upon to read fche balance -811661, which showed fcho brigade to be in a very healty slato, the sick and accident fund baying a credit balance of £112 6s 6d. Messrs Meek and Rigg wore unanimously awarded a vote of thanks for their kindness in auditing fcho accounts of the brigade for tbe past year. The election of officers then took place for the ensuing year :— L. Moss, captain j J. Jenkins, lieutenant ; J. Ames, treasurer ; W. Boyd, secretary ; J. M'Cord, foreman ;J. Prosser, driver. Branchmen~J. Jenkins, V. Cohen, J. W. Conrad, and J. Donovan. Standing Committee — Messrs C. Press, E. Lowe, and H. Silk. Capt Moss, in a few suitable remarks, had greafc pleasure in presenting Branchman J. Jenkins with a stripe for good attendance, and he hoped next year to be able to [present him with a silver stripe. A vote of thanks was unanimously awarded fco the officers and standing committee for past services. Messrs James Wilson and George Keys wero unanimously elected members of the brigade. This being the whole of fcho business fche meeting adjourned to Mr Donnecker's, where ample justice was done to a good supper pro- ' vided by the officers of the brigade. Tho health of her Majesty, and success to the C.V.F.B. were drank, and after a little harmony the meeting broke up, after spending a very pleasant evening.
