WESLEYAN DISTRICT MEETING.
« The annual meeting of the ministers of the Middle District commenced its session on the 16th instant, afc 10.30 a.m. Present — Revs T. Buddie, Chairman of the District ; W. J. Watkin and W. Cannell, from Nelson ; J. B. [Richardson, Blenheim ; W. Oliver, Wanganui ; W. G. iThomas, Motueka ; D. ,'M'Nicoll, Gl'CytOWn ; and G-_ S. -—ai-per, Hutfc. _L_e Rev G. Stannard was absent in charge of the Wanganui Circuit; also, Rev W. S. Harper, of Marton, through indisposition, bufc ifc is hoped he will be present beforo the close of the session. The meeting opened with praise and prayer and the reading of the Scriptures. After fche Chairman's address tho Rev W. J. Watkin was elected secretary. The day's session was occupied with arranging the hours of meeting, which wero decided to bo from 10 a.m. to 1 p m., and from 2.30 to 5 o'clocV; witk tho consideration of each minister's moral character ; with tho stations of the ministers for tho ensuing year, which passed fcho first reading ; and with the recommendation of the Wellington quarterly meeting that the Wellington Circuit; be divided, and the Hutt and its neighbborhood be consti- | fcufced a separate circuit. This subject excited some interest, and after being fully considered ifc waß unanimously recommended for adoption by the Conference, to meet in Melbourne in January next. ; . Yesterday's sosaion was occupied in a general conversation on the further promotion of the cause of Christ- in the various circuits of fche district ; the appointment of a representative of the district to accompany the Chairman to the ensuing Conference, tho Rev W. J. Watkin being elected ; the recommendation fco the ensuing Conference thafc fcho prosenfc law affecting the re-appointments of ministers to circuits be modified, and thafc fche term of absence bo three years ; also, fchafc fcho admission of members into tho church be public, to take place at the administration of fcho sacrament of the Lord's Supper. The subject cf a New Zealand Conference was seriously considered, bufc postponed for etill further consideration. Sermons on behalf of the Home Mission Fund will be preached in the various churches on Sabbath next, and missionary meetings will be held at Wainuiomata on Monday evening, at tho Hutfc on Tuesday evening, and in Wellington on Wednesday evening ; with tea meetings afc the Hutfc on Tuesdny, at 5.30 p.m., and on Wednesday in Wellington, afc 6 o'clock,
