The 8.8. Phoebe has been detained until 5 o'clock this afternoon. The b.s. Keera left Auckland at 4.30 p.m. on the 7th ; arrived off Napier on the 9th ; went inside the Iron Pot the next morning at 4 a.m. ; discharged and took in cargo, and left again for Wellington at 5 p.m. the same day (10th), with strong wind from the southward ; at 6.30 a.m. on the 11th passed Cape Turnagain ; at 7 a.m. the wind shifted suddenly into S,E., and came on to blow a heavy gale, accompanied with heavy sea, rain, hail, lightning, and heavy thunder ; wore ship to the eastward ; eased the engines, and set reefed maintopsail, the ship laboring heavily, and taking a quantity of water on board ; at 3.30 a.m. on the 12th shipped a heavy sea, and washed the deck-house away ; at 7 a.m. the rigging came down about eight inches on tho foremast, the mast working about six feet each way ; managed to get up a hawser and save the mast ; at 6.80 p.m. the wind moderated, and the ship proceeded on her course, with a very heavy head sea and strong wind ; ut 3 p.m. on the 13th passed Castle Point, with strong wind and sea from southward to Cape Palliser, and from thenco light wind to Wellington, where ohe arrived yesterday afternoon.
