Business generally is sound, but quiet. Lyttelton, Friday. Sailed, 26th — Late, Coronilla, for London. 27th — 1.45 p.m., Gothenburg, for Otago ; Chanticleer, for Plobart Town. Arrived — Aspasia, from Hokitika. Christcijurch, Friday. The grain market is without attention, and there have been few transactions. Potatoes are selling at .£3 15s, with an upward tendency. Port Chaxmers, Friday. Arrived — 6 a.m., Alhambra, from the Bluff; 4 p.m., Peter Denny, ship, from London, ninety-two days' passage ; all well. Sailed — 3 p.m., Wellington, for Lyttelton, Dunedin, Friday. The Dock Trust has agreed to Mr Carruthers's recommendation to offor the contractors £7144 without prejudice, the Trust foregoing the claim of damages arising out of the leakage if the offer be accepted. Mr Bastings, the Mayor of Lawrence, will proceed to Wellington with petitions against the sale of the waste land block to Mr Clarke, of Melbourne. Wheat is quiet at 5s to 5s 3d ; millers stocks are low. Oats are dull of sale at 2s to 2s 2d ; flour is in better demand at £13 to £13 10s ; bran is overstocked, but may be quoted at £2 15s ; potatoes are scarce at £6. Wanganui, Friday. The foundation stone of St. Stephen's Church, Marton, w<is laid yesterday by the Bishop of Wellington. Mr It. S. Low reports having sold during the past week yearlings at 30s ; two-year-old steers, in good condition,
at 48s ; and a mixed lot of cows, steers, and heifers, three years old, at £&. Good milk cows have been also sold at £4 10s to £5 10s. Light unbroken horses, three years old, £7 to £9 ; light draught horses, £I*3 to £15. No sheep have been offered during the week. Oamaru, Friday. Business is dull in the grain market, and no transactions worthy of notice have taken place. Wheat mny be quoted at 4s Gd, but there is little doing at that figure; oats at Is 6d to Is lOd ; potatoes, £4 per ton, and scarce. Flour is quoted at £13 to £13 10s ; pollard at £'4 ; oatmeal, £14 10s ; and bran at £3.
