Melb'ouene, Sept. 30. An excursion party, numbering six hundred persons, and including th<j Governor and members of Parliament, with tho Conforonco dolegates as guests, proceeded by the Cerberus and Nelson. The excursion was a great success. The steamer City of Adelaide takes the Conference delegates down the bay fco-daj', on her trial trip. The result of the Intercolonial Conference will bo made simultaneously to the various Parliaments interested. The Haymarkefc Theatre has boon burned down. The causp of tho fire is a mystery. A man numed John Jones was killed by the fall of an iron pillar among tho ruins next day. A man named Marriott has beon found murdered on the beach near Sundridge. A fire in the roof of Saint Stephen's Church occurred during the service, but was promptly suppressed. There is an alleged want of employment, and there has been a meeting of tho unemployed. Sydney, Sepfc 29th. Two hundred thousand pounds worth of wool has been sold on American account at an advanced price. Twenty-two racohorses have beon shipped to tho Mauritius. Lloyd, a squatter, has failed for £27,000 ; assets, £10,000. Tookey's shares aro quotod at £37 10a. Adelaide, September 29. News has hoon receivod of tho discovery of paynblo goldfields in the Northorn Territory. Wheat 4s 7sd, in fair demand. J. Moffat, a passenger from Southampton, diod on board tho Deccan.
