TELEGRAMS.

LYTTKtTON, 14th — 3.30 p.m., Wellington, for Wellington. The 8.8. Wellington, Captain Konuedy, left Lyttelton yesterday at half-past 3 o'clock, and will arrire here early this morning with the Suez mail. The 8.8. Toranaki, Captain Wheeler, nrrired at Manukau on the 7fch instanfc. She left Nelson on the 4th, at. 11 p.m., and arrived at Taranski on the sth ; succeeded in landing and shipping the mails, notwithstanding tho terrific westerly galo that was blowing. She left Taranaki on the same day, at 5 p.m., and arrived off the Manukau early on the 6th, but did not Biicceod in crossing the bar until the 7th. A correspondent writing from Aucklond on the 7th, says : — "A steamer was signalled all day yeßterday outside the Manukau, which proved to be the Taranaki. She did not succeed in getting inside until this afternoon, the Manukau being in a state in which nobody ever saw it before. This is the first instance remembered by the oldest inhabitant of a steamer not being able to get in. The postmaster here courteouslj detained the Nevada Beven hours, for the purpose of obtaining the Southern mails, and they having been duly .shipped, she proceeded on her voyage at 7 p.m." The Taranaki must have again been detained by tho state of tho bar, as she was due at Nelson yesterday morning, but had not put in an appearance up to the time of our going to press. She brings on the Nebraska's mail and passengers.
