The bavquo Annie Melhuish, Captain Williams, from NewcasLle, N.S.W., arrived in this harbor yesterday afternoon, after a rather boisterous passage of ten days. She left Newcastle on the 28fch ult., and brings papers to the 26th ult. Daring the passage she experienced a gale of wind, and shipped n considerable quantity of water, causing damage to the longboat, skylight and galley. The three-masted schooner Lady Bird, hence, had arrived at Newcastle, and was to sail for this port a day or or tivo after the departure of the Annie Melhuish. Tho Wonga Wonga, Californian Mail Bteamer, Captain Steuart, left San Francisco on the 18tl\ July, arrived at Honolulu on 27ih ■where she was detained for coals, owing to the non-arrival of vcbscls from Sydney. Sailed from Honolulu on 29th July ; had fine weather to Levuka, where she arrived on tho 13th August, leaving again for Sydney on the 15th. For the first four days had fine easterly winds, einco then south and south-weafc weather. Mado tho laud off Port Stephens on Wednesday night. Wo understand that she will leave again with the outward English mail on Wednesday next, tbo 30tb. inst.— " Sydney Herald," August. 25. Tho barque Duke of Edinburgh, arrived in Newcastle, on Thursday afternoon, the 24th ult, from Wellington. Captain Hill reports as followB :— Left Wellington on the 7lh insfc, with strong north-west winds ; on the Bth inst, caroe to an anchor in tho Straits, a gale of •wind blowing; on fhe 12th, got underweigh with a southerly wind, which lasted till 8 p.m., •when wo were abreast of Cape Farewell ; from thence south-west winds continued to the IStli " inst, driving the barque greatly to the northward ; for the last two days north-west and eoutherly winds have prevailed. Of tho outward trip, Captain Hill reports : — sailed from Newcastle July 12th, with fresh north-west and south-west winds, which continued the greator part of the pussage, arriving at Wellington Head on the 19Lh inst, tliuu making a quick run (from port to port) of seven days. The barque Bengal arrived in Newcastle on the 25th ult, after a lengthy passage of twentyfive days from Duuedin, New Zealand. Captain Rogers gave tho following report : — Loft Dunedin on tho Ist inst, experienced a succession of south-west and north-west gales till the 11th insfc, when in latitude 51" south, longitude 165' east; then strong westerly winds to the 19th, in latitude 36. south, longitude 157" eaßt ; from thence light variable winds till arrival off Sydney Heads on the 21sb August.
