Mauritius— The following report, addressed to Messrs Scotfc, Henderson and Co, of Sydnoy, is dated Porfc Louis, May 30 :— Shipments have fallen off considerably this year to fche colonies. Our exports to Australia, Tasmania, and New Zealand wore, to May 30, 1870, 40,923 tons ; and to May 30, 1871, 39,605 tons, being a deficiency of 7318 tons ; whilo to Sydney to May 30, they were 9271 tons ; and to Sydney to May '30, 1871, fchey are 7238 tons, being a deficiency of 2033 tons this year. The weather has been unfavorable of late, and much alarm has been caused by what is thought to bo a new disease of tho canes, t*bo heads becoming twisted, and benfc down, and fcho plant drying up. We believo ifc is no disease, but the effect of the check to vegetation by drought and sudden change of temperature. In any case, we cannot look for the fine crop onco anticipated. The aotual mischief dono will nofc bo known until crushing begins. If, as seems probable, wo have rainy weather in July and August, fche crop will bo lato, and the market will nofc be well supplied wifch new sugars till tho end of August or beginning of Septembor.
