FISH.
4 TO THE EDITOK OF TIIE INDEPENDENT. Stb,— l am an unfortunate woman. My all like fish, but I live about; 100 yards 7 from the main street, and when the fisherman ' cries " Fieh" in the morning my girl is sent off to overtake him, but very seldom can see him. In Dunedm I lived two nnd a-half miles from the Post Office, and beyond the Town Belt, and up a long steep hill, and yet everj second morning a fisherman called with fish in his basket. When Igo down to the jetty I sometimes buy fish from the boys, but they charge me very dear. Can you not, Mr Editor, say a word on this ? Are the people hero too well off that they will not trouble to bring round their fish Or keep a shop. lam sure it would pay them to do the one or the other. The fish are better here than any place I have been in except Auckland ; but whafc is the use if I can't got them when I want them. Say, something, Mr Editor, for a constant reader.— l have, &c, Wellington, 6th August. X.y.Z.
