POLICE COURT.
Monday, August, 7. (Before W. M. Bannatyne, Esq., and R. J, Duncan, Esq., J.P's.) DRUNKENNESS. Kate Garnish was fined 20s, or in default committed for three days, for the above offence. CRUELTY TO ANIMALS. Robert Mabey was charged with beating and ill-treating a horse, Edward Senger deposed that as he was going up Willis-street' on the 2nd instant he saw tho prisoner, who was in charge of a timber waggon and five horses, one of which he beat unmercifully. The horse did not seem to deserve the punishment, as it was verj willing. Sovoral persons remonstrated, but as thero was no policeman near he was not given in charge at the time. Several other witnesses corroborated the statement of Mr Seager, as to the brutal treatment the horse had receivod. Tho prisoner said the horso had not suffered at all, and, if necessary, he would produce it to bear out this statement. HARBOR REGULATIONS. PaTks, Mills, and Brown were charged with a breach of tho Harbor Regulations. Witnesses not being in attendance, the case was adjourned to Friday. CITY COUNCIL BYE-LAWS. Edward Brunfitt was charged with having allowed his horse to wander at large. He pleaded guilty, aud the Bench fined him 2a Gd and costs.
