POLICE COURT.
(Before J. C. Crawford, Esq., 8.M.) DEUNKENNBS3. Elizabeth Butler, for being drunk on the previous day, was fined 53, or in default, 24 hours' imprisonment. Jus. Simmonda, for being drunk and incapable, was fined 20a. Geo; Wall, for alike offence, was fined 103. Prisoner, when arrested, was riding a horse and driving a bullock, but was quite incapable. CIVIL. Boor v. Patter.— Claim, £2, for medical attendance on a boy. As plaintiff did npt sue in person, the case was adjourned for a fortnight, in order that Dr Boor's evidence might be taken at Masterton. CRUELTY TO ANIMALS. George Wall, who had previously been fined for drunkenness, was charged with the abovo offence, and as Mr Baker, the Clerk of the Court, had bo en a witness of it, the delinquent was fined 20s. A DOUBLE OHABGE.. Thomas Nidd was first charged by Sergeant Monaghan with a breach of the police regulations and refusing to take his trap to the other side of the road when direoted to do so. De« fendant had asked for a short adjournment when the case was first called on, as Mr Travers was going to appear for him. As it was made out by counsel for the defence that the breach was the result of ignorance, the Bench dismissed the case. On the charge of using profane language, the defendant was fined 5s and costs. A BAD BOILEB. Greenfield & Stuart v. Krull &Oo. — Claim, £87 Us 9d, loss caused through a faulty boiler imported for plaintiffs by defendants. Mr Izard for plaint iffo, Mr Travers for defendants. Mr James Stuart, on being examined, gave the particulars of the transaction, and the repairs which the boiler had received since being landed; Mr Krull was also examined; and also Mr E. Seager, who had surveyed the boiler, and on which he reported. The amount suod for was made up of £37 Us 9d paid for repairs; £25 for needed repairs ; and -625 for loss through stoppage of the mill "in consequence of the boiler. Judgment was given for amount, with £7 14s costs.
