TO CONTRACTORS. rTYHE Telegraph Commissioner is prepared X to receive Tenders for the Supply and delivery of TWO THOUSAND (2000) TELEGRAPH POLES, to be delivered at tbe Telegraph Stores, Wellington. Tenders will be accepted for one thousand or the whole. The poles to be sawn from tho heart 01 totara. The poles to bo of the following dimensions -,— Twenty-five (25) and twenty (20) feet long, to be eight (8) inches square at tho butt, and six (6) inches square at tho top. Five per cent of the number required will have to ba 25 feet long. The poles to be sound, straight, and free from shakes, knots, and sap. N.B.— No pole will be accepted which contains the least sap or speckled timber. Tenderers are to specify the price per pole as per sizes given, and the time that will be required for completing the contract. Each tender to be accompanied by a deposit of twenty five pounds (£25) as a guarantee of good faith, which sum will be forfeited by any tenderer should be refuse to take up his tender in the event of its being accepted. Each tender must include the names of two sureties for approval, who are willing to become bond for the due performance of tho contract, in the event of the tender being accepted, and must be accompanied by a notification to that effect, signed by the two proposed sureties. Tenders endorsed " Tenders for the supply of one thousand (1000) or two thousand (2000) p01e3," as tho case may bo, and addressed "The General Manager, Telegraph Department, Wellington," must be sent in not later than the 10th July next. The timber must be of the full size as described, and not cut in any way scant. Public Works Office, Wellington, 16th Juno, 1871. rriHE SETTLERS and ROAD PARTIES X in the neighborhood of FALMERSTON und the GORGE, MANAWATU, require the services of a duly qualified SURGEON. The remuneration they propose subscribing is about Twenty to Twenty-four Pounds (£2O lo £24) per month, dependent wholly or in part on the strength and continuance of the public works now in course of progress in that , district. The Government is willing to pay such surgeon, for the first year only, at the rate of One Hundred Pounds (£100) per annum, on being satisfied as to his character and qualifi cations, but does not in any wuy hold itself responsible for the subscriptions proposed to be made, nor will it give any other contribu tion or allowance than at tho rate of One Hundred Pounds (£100) for one year only, us above mentioned.
