Napieb: 20th— 1 p.m., Rangatira, from Wellington. Lttteltok : 215t— 3.30 p.m., Gothenburg, for Wellington. Masters of ships will perceive, by an advertisement in another column, that after the 28th. instant three red lights, in triangular form, -will be exhibited at the centre of the outer T of the Queen's whavf. The schooner Lochlee was hauled out from the Queen's Wharf yosterday evening, and ■will leave to-day for Newcastle. The s.a. Gothenburg:, Captain Pearce, left Lyttelton at 3 p.m. yesterday, and will bo due here this morning. She will sail to-day for Melbourne, via Nelson and West Coast. The B*B. Rangitoto, Gaptaiu Mackay, will be due here to-diy, and will sail on Friday next, at 1 o'clock p.m., for Melbourne, via Southern ports. The b.b. Rangatira is expected to arrive here tTii3 evening from Napier, and will sail on Saturday for the South. The s.e. Ahuriri, Captain Carey, from Picton and Nelson, arrived in this harbor yesterday afternoon, at 3 o'clock. The b.b. Wellington, Captain Kenuedy, left this port for Lytlelton and Otngo yesterday afternoon. The 8,8. Taranaki left Nelson on Tuesday morning last for Manuka", direct, and arrived fhere yesterday morning. The Nevada will be due at Auckland to-day, and if she arrives to time, the Taranaki will leave the same day, and may therefore be expected to arriro hero on Saturday at noon. She will leave for the South on Monday. An interesting scene O2curred on Tuesday, the 12th, at Mercury Bay. It was previously announced that on the 6th Juno, the cutter built by William White would bo launched at 9 a.m., and about half-past eight the inhabitants began to assemble, and by nine o'clock all the surrounding settlers (about a hundred) had arrived, and also a good number of natives. Many of the most venturesome proceeded on deck, amongst whom could be seen come of the fair sex. Punctual to the time, the word was given, and she glided gracefully off to her future home, amidst great cheering from the bystanders. The ceremony of christening her waß performed by Miss E. Meiklo, "who gave her the name of " Mercury," after the district. Her dimensions are bb follows : — Length overall, 52 feet j beam, 17 feet ; depth of hold, 6 feet 6 inches ; and is about 30 tons. She has a large cabin, neatly fitted up with every convenience for passengers,' and is well lighted with a "skylight. She i 8 built to the order of Messrs Meikle and GKlmoro, and I believe they intend te run her in the timber trade in connection with this port. — « JS. Z. Herald," Juno 17. The regular trader Bella Mary arrived in harbor yesterday afternoon, after a good pasEOge of fourteen days, bringing nine passengers and a cargo of Hobartown produce. Captain M' Arthur reports leaving Hobartown on Sunday, 1 the 28fch ultimo, and had light N.W. winds for the first two days, when the wind veered into the S.W.,and blew very hard for several. d,ays ; thence had light JE.N.E. winds for the next three days. On the 6th instant experienced a yory severe gale from the east, accompanied with thick, rainy weather and terrific squalls. At ten p.m. the ship was hove-to under a close-reefed maintopsail, and on the 7th, at 5.30 a.m. 'a fearful squall struck the vessel, heeling her over, the lee rail being under water for fifteen minutes. A heavy sea broke on board, and took everything movable on deck overboard. The gale continued for eight hours with tstrific violence. After the gale had subsided, the wind veered to north, and on the evening of the Bth encouutered another severe gale from W.N.W., during which the vessel was hove-to. The Three Kings were sighted on Sunday, and the North Cape rounded at 11 p.m.J same day. The Bella Mary made a capital run from this port to Hobartown on her last trip, accomplishing the round from Hobartown and back in 25 days, including stoppages in port. — N.Z. *' Herald," June 14.
