TO CONTRACTOES. THE Telegraph Commissioner is prepared to receive tenders for the supply and delivery at tho Telegraph Stores, Wellington, of the following quantities of timber, more or lees : — 500 pieces, 7 by 2, and 20 feet long 1200 „ 3by 2, „ „ „ The whole of the above must be of the heart of totara, and free from defect of any kind, such as speckled, knotty, or shaky. The timber must be of tho full size as described, and not cut in any way scant. Tenders must state the price per 100 feet as per sizes given, and the time that will be required for completing the contract. Each tender to be accompanied by a deposit of ten pounds (£10) as a guarantee of good faith, which sum will be forfeited by any tenderer should he refuse to take up his tender in the event of its being accepted. Each tender must include the names of two sureties for approval, who are willing to become bond for the due performance of the contract, in the event of the tender being accepted, and must be accompanied by a notification to that effect, signed by the two proposed sureties. Tenders, endorsed " Tenders for the supply of totara timber," and addressed " The General Manager, Telegraph Department, Wellington," must be sent in not later than the 10th July, 1871. The poles to be of the following dimensions :— Twenty-five (25) and twenty (20) feet .long, to be eight (8) inches square at the butt, and six (6) inches square at the top. Five per cont of tho number required will have to be 25 feet long. The poles to be sound, straight, and free | from shakes, knots, and sap. N.B. — No pole tvill he accepted which contains the least sap or speckled timber.
