— -» - [per gbevillb's TEL. CO., reuter's agents.] Hokitika, Saturday. Sailed — The Mavis for Hobarton. In the roadstead — The Spray, from Lyttelton. Dunedin; Sunday. The Tararua arrived at the Bluff at 11 a.m. to-day. She left here on Friday morning at daylight, but was delayed by fogs. [From a Correspondent.] [This telegram should have appeared in Saturday's issue.] Dunedin, Friday. The following resolution was passed last night in the Provincial Council : — " That, having considered the Colonial Secretary's communication contained in the Superintendent's message, this Council acquiesces in the construction of the railway from Dunedin to Clutha, so far as progress made, and requests that the Colonial Government will continue its construction, and complete it at the earliest possible time ; and also will take all necessary steps to obtain the concurrence ofthe Governor, and sanction of the Assembly, to the immediate construction of the following lines of railway in terms ofthe Immigration and Public Works' Act, 1870, namely — Invercargill to Mataura— Division, 29 to 9 ; 2. Waitaki to Moeraki, and thence to Waikouaiti, unanimous ; 3. Tokomairiro to Tuapeka, unanimous ; 4Mosgiel to Outram — division called, but it was carried on the voices with locked doors ; 5. Winton to Kingston, unanimous; and 6. Balclutha to Mataura, unanimous. Ministers must deem this reversal of the resolution of last Council a great triumph to their policy.
