Butter is in good request at 6£d to 6fd ; cheese is almost a drug at 4|d to 4£d ; hams and bacon, are in speedy request frg-d for shipment. Oamabu, Friday. Wheat, 4s 9d and a ready sale, held for ss ; oats, ls 9d to 2s ; barley (first class) 3s 6d ; flour, £14 to £14 10s ; potatoes, from 30s to 40s per ton. Dunedin, Friday. Much dissatisfaction amongst Reid's supporters in consequence of the Executive appointments as constructed— Reid, Land Works ; Bradshaw, Treasurer ; Bathgate, Gold Fields Secretary ; Cutten, Solicitor, without office. The Taranaki sails today ; she was detained by an accident to her screw. Flour saleable at £15. Wheat easily disposable at 5s 9d to 6s. Oats, without improvement, 2s 3d to 2s sd. Malting barley, 3s 9d to 4s. It is reported that J. C. Brown and Dr Menzies have joined the Executive as unofficial members. Jerusalem Smith's tender has been accepted forthe Cluthaline, for £21,000, being £9000 below estimate. Nothing decisive has been done with regard to the University Council pending the arrival of some members by the Phoebe. The points of difference between the two Councils are not wide ; and there is good reason to hope for their amalgamation. At a meeting of the inhabitants of Oamaru it was resolved to petition for the immediate construction of the main line between Wailaki and Moeraki.
