Lyttemon : 30th— 10.55 a.m., Wellington, from Wellington.
The 8.8. Taranaki, Captain Wheeler, will leave Fert Chalmers to-niorrow, Thursday, and will be due here on Sunday next. She will leave for Picton and northern porta on Monday, 6th June. . The b.b. Wellington, Captam Kennedy, left here on Monday, at 6 p.m., with a full passenger list and a number of horees. She arrived at Lyttelton yesterday, at 10.55 a.m., after a rapid run of 17 hours. The 8.8. Ahuriri, Captain Carey, sailed last evening for Lyttelton and Dunedin wharf, calling at Akavoa, Tiinam, and Oamaru. She iiad a fair number of passengers, and an average cargo. She will return here from the South about the 6fch proximo. The ship Wild Duck, under the command of Captam Baillie, arrived at Auckland on the 24fch from Timaru, with a cargo of gtain. Captam Baillio reports of fcho passage from Timaru aa follows .—On the lOfch Hay, during a heavy S.E. gale, we parted our cable, and for the safety of the vessel, which was at this time pitching bows under, wo slipped 120 fathoms of chain and our port anchor, and stood out to sea, not thinking it safe to let go a second anchor in such a gale as was then blowing. The eea during the whole of this time made clean breaches over all parts of the vessel. At 6 p.m. got clear away, and at 10 p.m. the wind and eea increased, continuing for some hours, then fell a dead calm. Seeing no chance to £et back to Timavu, made sail for Auckland. Passed Portland Island ou the 15th. Throughout the passage strong gales with very high confused seas prevailed.
