LAND TRANSFER ACT, 1870. riIHE Registrar-General of Land will be in JL attendance at his Office between tho hours of 11 o'clock and 2 o'clock, for tho purpose of receiving and considering applications from persons desirous of obtaining licences to act as Land Brokers, under the provisions of " Tho Land Transfer Act, 1870." STEAM MAIL SERVICE. mENDERS will be received at the General JL Post-office, Wellington, till the 20th Juno proximo, for the performance of tho undermentioned Steam Mail Services : — 1. Between the Manukau and Picton, calling at Taranaki and Nelson, and back to tho Manukau by the eamo route, once every four weeks. 2. Between Nelson and Hokitika, calling at Westport and Greymouth, and back to Nelson by the same route, once every four weeks. Tho names, tonnage, and horse-power of tho vessels proposed to be employed to bo. stated, and the vessels to bo approved by the Post-maßter-Goneral, and to be surveyed by some person appointed by him whenever ho may consider it necessary. A proper and secure room to bo provided for the Mails, and all Mails to bo landed and shipped by and at the expense of the contractor. The days and hours of arrival and departure at and from the various ports to be fixed by the Postmaster-General, who shall also have the power of detaining the vessels, if necessary, for forty-eight hours after the due date of the San Francisco Mails at Auckland and Nelson, without charge ; for any other detention the rate of demurrage per diem to be stated. Service No. 1 to commence at the Manukau on tho arrival of tho Mail Steamer Nevada at Auckland about the end of Juno proximo; and Servico No. 2 to commence at Nelson on tho arrival of the steamer performing Service No. 1. Tho services to be determined by cither party giving two months' notice in writing to the other. The lowest or any tender rut necessarily accepted. G.
