Butter and Cheese. — The following prices of theßO two articles we extract from a home paper of the 24th February. They will no doubt bo of interest to our country readers : — Carlow butter, per 1121ba, £5 12s to £7 10s ; £ne Friesland, £7- 6s to £7 lis ; Bampen and Zwole, £6 16s to £7 14s j Rosch, £5 8s to £6 j Danish, £6 10s to £8 ; Holstein, £6 10s to £8. Cheese— Derby, per 1121bs, £3 to £3 6s ; American, £3 6d to £3 16s ; New Edam, £3 6s to £3 12s ; Gouda, £2 18s to £3 4s. Otago.— The "Star" of the 13th has the following report : — Thero has been an active inquiry for wheat throughout the past week, and wo note several considerable parcels have changed hands. The value has somewhat improved and fair milling samples cannot be Secured under ss. In many cases holders refuse to quit below 03 ; but wo havo not heard of any transactions afc this rato, and as miller's are generally well stocked, it is not likely they will advance until they are in need of the grain. Oat 3 are neglected, and, excepting for milling and seed lots, fair prices cannot bo obtained. Produce dealers are not giving over 2s 3d to 2s 4d for feeding samples. Malting barley is wanted afc 3a 9d to 4s ; for feeding there is no sale. Flour is in firsb*ate demand, at £13. Millers are only supplying trade orders at this figure, and aro not induced to dispose of parcels unless at an advance. Wheat, ss. Oats 2s 3d for feed ; 2s 6d to 2s 6d for milling. Barley, 3b 9d to 4s for malting j 2s 3d to 2s 6d for feed. Flour, • 3>13 for sacks ; £13 10s for bags. Oatmeal, £14 10s. Bran and pollard, £4 10s, including bags. Pearl barley, £20. Potatoes, £3. Straw, £2 10s. Hay, £4. Chaff, £4. Onions, £Xl. Turnips and carrots, £2 10s. TntABU. — The" Herald" says : — Not; much Easiness in breadsfcuffs has been doing during ill© week, a few thousand bushels only having
exchanged hands. Wheat remains firm at from 3s 6d to 4s, according to sample. Oats may be quoted at from Is 6d to 2s. Barley, no demand, and prices aro for inferior discolored lots, as low.as Is 6d, but even for good sampleß wo have not hoard of more than 2s being given. Flour, beat brands, can be quoted from £12 to £13 10s ; at the latter price Wood's Temuka flour is sold in town.
