[Extract from page 80 of " New Zealand Gazette," No. 8, February 4, 1871.] Colonial Secretary's Office, Wellington, 3rd February, 1871. IN compliance with recommendations contained in the Reports of tho Flax Commission Committee, and of the Joint Committee on Colonial Industries, to tho effect that " premiums not exceeding in tho wholo £500 should be granted for the encouragement of Sericiculture in tho Colony," and that tho development of certain industrial pursuits would often be best promoted by the offer of a bonus on production, the following Rewards are offered, subject to tho under-mentioned conditions : — A bonus of 50 per cent, on tho valuo realized is offered for tho production of tho first £1000 worth of cocoons of tho Silkworm or eggs of tho Silkworm produced in the Colony, to bo paid on quantities of not less valuo than £50 or more than £100 produced by any one person. To any person or personß who shall manufacture, within tho Colony, from Now Zouland flax— For tho first 500 reams of Printing Paper, a sum of £400 ; and a further sum of £250 for the first 500 reams of Packing Paper; and the like sum for tho first 10,000 yards of Scrimcloth suitable for covoring flax bales. Conditions. Tho required quantity of each article to be comploted before the 30th June, 1872Tho weight of each ream of printing paper to be not less than 30 lbs., of each roam of packing papor not lesß than 40 lbs., and of each piece of scrim-cloth of 100 yards in length and double width, not less than 30 lbß. The rowards will be paid on the certificate of an officer to bo appointed by tho Government that the above conditions have beon complied with. W. (HSBORNE.
