GAS CAUTION.
TO TIIE EDITOR OF TIIE INDEPENDENT. Sir, — In the advertisement of the Gas Company they have omitted two directions which should be named : — 1. Never blow out a gas flume ; always extinguish it by turning the cock. 2. If there be an escape of gns, at once, and first of all, open all doors and windows. If this bo done a light may bo held without danger in searching for the leak. The danger is from the light setting fire to a large volume of the escaped gas. But it is better, of course, fo trust to the nose only in the search. Those who fear gas should remomber how very seldom an accident occurs, and only then from sheer stupidity. — I am, &c, Cabeitl/.
