[PEE GEEVILLE'S TEL. CO., BEUTEtt'S AGENTS.] Tauranga, Monday. A messenger has been permitted by Te Hira to pass through the forbidden territory, and afterwards a contractor for the extension of the telegraph line was allowed by Te Hira, Mr James Mackay, junior, having requested permission. The natives at Ohinemuri state to the messengers that the overland mail service will be re-established in a few days. Commissioner Clarke and Mr James Mackay are hourly expected at Ohinemuri. Hokitika, Monday. A fatal accident occurred at Greenstone yesterday. A large boulder gave way, which killed Geo. Taylor instantly, and broke Sandy Stewart's leg, which has since been amputated. W. S. Reid, of the firm of Button and Reid, is appointed First Law Officer of the Crown, and leaves for Wellington shortly. The Hon. Mr and Mrs Sewell arrived per coach on Saturday. Sailed yesterday — The Gothenburg and the Northern Light for Melbourno. Arrived, on the 23rd, the Dagmar from Dunedin.
