He attended the citizens' ball and sapper in the evening, which was a great success, and left by the p.s. Luna this morning for Wellington. He had magnificent weather and a grand welcome. Bluff, Wednesday. A smart shock of earthquake was felt here at 4 p.m. Dunedin, Thursday. There was a smart shock of eurthquake at 3.56 p m., yesterday, which lasted two seconds. It was very severe at Queenstown. Featherston missed the Gothenburg on Saturday. He sailed in the Lord Ashley yesterday, and goes home in the Nevada. The Provincial Government have received intimation that an act to amend the Consolidated Gold Fields laws will bu introduced during the ensuing se?6ion. The Mining Conference meets in May. Professor Hearn, of Melbourne, expresses an opinion that the Governor has the power of pardoning after conviction ; nothing more. The land owners at Clutha offer 15 miles of land free of charge, provided the Government go on with the line at both ends. No offer for the Harbor Company steamers.
