RESIDENT MAGISTRATE'S COURT.
Tuesday, Apiui*4. (Before 3. C. Crawford, Esq., E.M.,) DRUNKENNESS. The following botch of drunkards wero each fined 10s: — W. Mnynanl, John M'lvor, Mary Lazary, and Ellen Hall. ASSAULT. A double case of assault was heard betwoen Thomas Madeley) and George Underwood. The dispute appeared from tho evidence to have originated over tho covo in the ccmetry of tho grave of the late wifo of Edwin Clark. Clark hud instructed Mudoloy to take care of tho grave and not allow any other person to touch it. George Underwood, son of deceased, went to plant some flowers on his mother's grave and a squabble took place with him and Madeley, in the course of which Madeley seized him by the throat and pressed him to the ground, and struck him in the face when clown ; and when he tried to get up again pushed him down and struck him. Ifo was also bitten by Madeley's dog while down, llis Worship* opinion of' tho matter was that Madeley should bo cautious in the exercise of his duties as a special constable. Such squabbles in a cemetry wero unseemly and disgraceful. Tho first case was dismissed, and ig the secoud Underwood was bound over in £10 to keep the peace for six months.
