OHBifITOntTBCH.-~The " Press" of the 21st says there is an active demand for wheat, but that the bulk of samples, however, that are coining forward are more or less damaged through the weather, and are the cause of endless disputes between the farmers and produce merchants. A sale of nearly 2000 bushels of old wheat, for mixing, is reported at a very full figure, und stored samples of new wheat in prime condition are moved 49 Id, but for forward delivery nothing over 4s can be obtained. The damage done from the warm rains, which have fallen during the past six weeks, is far greater than is generally supposed, and it is next to impossible to find a large parcel ontircly free from unsound grains. On Saturday the millers decided upon advancing flour £1 per ton, and it is now very firm at £12 cash for 2001 b sacks. Oamaeu. — Prices are— Wheat 3s to 33 6d, for first-class samples. Barley— 2s per bushel ; oats, Is 9d to 2s. A large quantity of grain has been shipped per Tararua and other vessels. TiMABU.—Tho "Herald" reports .-—Prices remain unaltered, viz., 3s 6d for wheat, Is 9d to 2s for oats, and 2s 4d to 2s 5d for barley. We know of one large parcel of extra prime wheat for which 3s 9d was offered, but refused, the holder wanting 4s. Dunedin.— The " Times" of the 20th reports : — Au active demand for sugars in trade parcels has been maintained, rates remaining steady. A fair inquiry has been experienced for all the better kinds of teas. The late considerable arrivals of kerosene in Melbourne have unsettled the market here. Holders are offering at 3s 2d to 3s 3d in bond. In candles, a better demand is noted. Nevas have beeu moved at last quotations, and parcels of Brandon's at IH-d. Brandies show no alteration. Millers report a steady demand for flour at £11 10s to £12. Wheat is quoted at 4s, the supply as yefc rather scanty, but the average quality good. New oats, 2s 3d ; old rather higher. The supply of these rather light, but expected to improve as the curriers cease to bring down wool. Barley, excepting really superior samples, continues unsaleable. Southland.— The " Times" reports average mixed cattle may be quoted at £2 per head, a large proportion being young, but £16 for three head steers, well grown, but not prime. Other sales were at, for young heifars and steers, 22s 6d to 27s 6d. Cows, 355, all unbroken stock. Auckland.— The " Cross" of the 18th inst,. reports : — Live Stock Market. — Draught stock are at a considerable advance in value over late markets. Good animals brought freely from £20 to £30 each; medium and aged stock, from £7 10s. ; riding horses, from £5 to £13 15s. At a public sale, fat cattle, best animals, brought from 225. to 265. the lOOlbs. ; store lambs, ss. 9d. to 6s. 9d. each. Share Market. — Mr. Saunders renorts Caledonian, £98 to £100; Thames, £17 10s. in forge parcels, few sellers held for £17 ex div. ; Alburnia, £2 2s. 6d. ; Una, £1 ; Nonpareil, £3 to £3 18s. ; Moanataiari, sellers, £3 ; Belfast, 255. ; Young American, £6 ; All Nations, sellers, £6 ; Otago, sellers, 17s. 6d. to 18s. ; Kuranui, sellers, £2 15s. Ib is worthy of notice that the Caledonian Company have paid in dividends in seven weeks to the sum of £100,000, and carried forward about £8,000 to their credit, after meeting all current expenses. Melbourne.— The " Argus" of the 11th reports : — Flour is moving off at £14, but there is not a brisk enquiry. Wheat, 63 to 6s Id. A parcel of Tastnanian wheat was placed at 5s Bd. There is a good demand for oats: quotations are steady at 3s 7d to 3s B£d. Maize is wanted at 4s 9d to 4s lOd, but there is no stock. American brooms are more in request. Sales are effected at 255. Kerosene oil meets with ready buyers at 2s sd. Under the hammer some 945 cases, much out of condition, were sold in one line at 2s l£d, and some 250 cases sound ; but mixed brands were quitted at 2s 4d, figures which more than sustain our quotations for Devoe's. We hear of sales of sugar being effected ; a line of 400 bags was quitted at up to £4 10s for yellows. A small parcel of Virginian leaf tobacco, in hbds, has been closed for at lOd. The first arrivals of Tnstnnnian new hops, 1871, haro reached this market. In liquids, we hear of sal s of Hennessy's brandy having been effected at 6s 10£ d, but much higher is likewise wanted.
