The Colonial Government steamer Luna, Captain Fairchild, sailed for Manukau on Tuesday afternoon, at 4 o'clock, with a detachment of the Armed Constabulary, and brought up in Worser's Bay in consequence of the heavy sea in the Strait. The weather moderating, she Btarted at 4 o'clock yesterday morning, -with a light S.B. wind. The brigantine Esther sailed on Sunday sight last for Castle Point and Cape Turnagain, but meeting with a strong N.E. gale, put back to Worser's Bay. The wind changing to the S.E., she was unable to leave ; and fortunately lay enugly at anchor in the Bay during the late Bevere gale. She sailed last night with a light fair wind. The sohooner Ruby, Capt. Eraser, from KaiIwras, bound to Wellington, put into Porirua on Tuesday last, having been compelled to run through the Strait during the late gale, with the lobs of her foresail. Captain Eraser came "into town yesterday morning, and obtained a foreeail, which he sent out by a dray, and the vessel may be expected to arrive here by the first N.W. wind. The ketch Alarm, sailed for Rangifcikei yesterday morning, and brought up in Worser's Bay in consequence of the heavy sea on at the Heads. She sailed again last night. The ship Melita is bending sails and making preparations for her homeward voyage. The •wet weather has somewhat delayed her loading ; but it is anticipated that she will complete her cargo the early part of next week. The chip Celteno is loading wool and tallow at the Queen's wharf; but it is not yet decided whether she will fill up here or proceed to lyttelton.
