Sailed — Sobert Henderson, with 3400 bales of wool ; the Otago, with 4000 bales and 1000 cases preserved meats; the Chile, with 3<170 bales of wool— all for London. The Canterbury Government have purchased the Thomson's Road Engine recently imported. In the Supreme Court today, on the information for a conspiracy against Driver and Macandrew, an adjournment was applied for, on behalf of M'Leod, the secreiary of .Reid's committee. At the Judge's suggestion, tb.3 case was postponed till after the election was over. A child named Butt has been scalded lo death at the Wairava. At the Tuapeka election yesterday Mr Brown polled 348 ; Cutten, 82. Port Chalmers — M acandrew, 182 ; Jago, 52 ; Blueskin returns to come, but they will not influence the election. 7-59 p.m. — The Blueskin returns reduce Macaodrew's majority by 30. Thames, Febiuary 13. The election for Uodney to-day resulted as follows:— At Wajwern, Farnail. 73 ; Shepherd, 3. Other returns are to come. A great meeting to celebrate the permissive clause in .the Licensing Bill is to be held to-night. The Superintendent, the Executive, and members ot Council will be present. • The Caledonian yielded for eight days 5090 ounces, with iOOO ounces on hand for next week. A dividend of £5 per share has been declared, and one of 10s per share in the Thames Mining Company. An extraordinary find was made in the low level of the Nonpariel Company's claim to-day. Very rich specimens have been taken out. New ground is taken up daily in the Tararua district. j Auckland, February 14. The poll foi the Waikato was declared to-day as follows :— M'Pherson, 183; Kirkwood, 82. There are rumors that Webb has repudiated the Neilson contract, as the boats are not to run to Fiji and Sydney. The alleged ground of repudiation is that Neilson exceeded his powers in agreeing to allow the steamers to call at the New Zealand southern ports. Nothing, however, is known definitely. Tahanaki, February 13. The natives are quiet, and the election passed over without much stir. Majority for Kemp. Re»vi does not intend to interrupt road making or telegraphs at Taupo.
