Sir David Monro has been elected for Motueka by the casting vote of the Returning Officer. The return on-Satur-day gave an error of six in the number polled at Waimea West. At "Waimea election to-day Shepherd polled 80 ; Baigent 53. Other returns are yet to come in. Marton, Monday. Tho Rangitikei Cavalry prize firing" came off to day. The scoring was — Sergt. Marshall, Victorias, 51 ; Trooper Bushby, Victorias, 43 ; Ferguson, Alfreds, 42 ; Perry, Victorias, 38 ; Fraser, Alfreds, 37. Thames, Feb. 10. The man, Edward Sullivan, who was hurt b ythe full of a tree in the Tapu Creek is dead. A ton of stone from the Caledonian mine yielded 3500 ounces of gold and another dividend. The Waikato election will be between M'Pherson and Kirkwood, The return of M'Pherson is certain.
