RESIDENT MAGISTRATE'S COURT.
♦ SATUEDAY, FEBEUAEy 6. (Beforo Majors Edwards and Campbell, Esqs. J.P.s) A FAMILY QPAHBEI. Elizabeth Broadbent laid an information against Henry Hall, of the Duke of Edinburgh Hotel, for unlawfully dotaining fcwo boxes containing her wearing apparel. A summons was accordingly issued, but as defendant refused to answer ib by appearing, a warrant was issued for his apprehension. On the appearance of the parties. Elzabeth Broadbent was placed in the box, and deposed : I have been liviug afc Hall's as one of the family until this afternoon, when defendant ordered me out of fche house. I am a sister of Mrs Hall. On going to pack up my boxes, Hall told me if I was nofc off oufc of fcho house quickly he would throw me oufc of fche window. I wenfc and brought an express fco take away my boxes, but Hall refused to lofc me take them away. Hall afterwards refused to give me my things on the application of the Sergeant of the Police. On defendant being asked what he had to say in his defence, he aaid he merely detained the thinga to hear what his wife would say. The Bench made an order for the immediate delivery of the things, and ordered defendant to pay costs, lis 6d.
