RESIDENT MAGISTRATE'S COURT.
*. Friday, Febeuary 3. (Before J. 0. Crawford, Esq., 8.M.) ABtTSITE tANGFAOE. Frank Stevens brought a charge of throatening and abusive language against James Wilkinß. Mr Ollivier appeared for prosecutor and Mr Allan for defendant. It wilL be recollected that a cross action between these persons watt tried at the Police Court some days ago, and in which Wilkins was bound over in £10 recognizance to koep the peace. Wilkins, it seemed had not yet got over his feeling of mortification, and meeting Stevens gave vent to hia feelings in a threatening way. Prosecutor, however, did not want to press the charge, and only wished a retractation and some security for prisoner's good behavior in the future. The case was accordingly settled by prisoner being remanded for a month, or to appear when called upon. This wns accompanied by a caution to curb his violent temper, coupled with a suggestion from his counsel to remove to another place of residence if possible. GASFITTING. The adjourned ca9e between Petford and Martin was brought on to hear the award of the arbritrators who [had been appointed — Messrs Tolley and Hayes. The abritratora said they had examined as much of the work as was'possible under the circumstances and felt satisfied of the efficiency of the workmanship and the reasonableness of the charge. Judgment was given for £16 15s and costs, a guinea per day being allowed to each of the arbitrators.
