SALE OF LAND IK TUB BANGITIKEI • MANAWATU DISTRICT fTIHE PROVINCIAL GOVERNMENT OF WELLINGTON will sell by Publio Auo taon, at the upsel price of £1 per acre, a block of land of about 18,000 acres in the Manawatu District. The sale will take place at the Town Hall, Marton, Rangitikei, about the 27th FEB. EXJARY NEXT. Maps showing tho position of the block in relation to the surrounding country, and giving a detailed plan of the sections' offered for sale, will be visible at the Land Office on or after tho 25th January. Lithographed dopies may bo' procured by application at the Provincial Secretary's office, Wellington. Tho block now offered for salo is the first instalment of a block of 220,000 acres purchased in the year 1865 from the natives, and is situated on the south bank of the Rangitikei Biver, having a frontage of about 10 miles, and an average depth of three miles. It is interseoted by numerous streams, contains considerable patches of available bush, and is of the finest description of agricultural land. The Bangitikei District, from which the Manawatu block is separated only by the river (fordable at all points), contains a population of 3000 souls, and has been in the possession and occupation of freehold farmers for nearly 20 years, and is traversed in every direction by good metalled roads. The block offerod for sale is within 30 miles of the port of Wanganui, within five miles of tho mouth of tho Bangifcikei River, which is accessible to small coasters, and a road is in course of formation right through the block to the harbor of tho Msnawatu River, which is accessible to Teasels drawing from eight to ton feet of water. The heads of families vary in age from twenty to thirty-fire years, and are described as active, steady, industrious, and accustomed to hard labor. Parties desirous of employing oriy of the above are requested to make application to the Provincial Secretary, Wellington, stating terms on which they are willing to engage them.
