SALE OF LAND IK THB BANGITIKEI-MANAWATU DISTRICT mHB PROVINCIAL GOVERNMENT OF WELLINGTON will sell by Publio Auo ftion, at the upset price of £1 per acre, a block df land of about 18,000 acres in the Manawatu District. The Bale will take place at the Town Hall, JCarton, Rangitikei, about the 27th FEB BUARST NEXT. Maps showing the position of the block in relation to the surrounding country, and giving a detailed plan of the sections offered for eale, will be visible at the Land Office «v or after the 25th January. Lithographed copies may bo procured by application at the Provincial Secretary's office, Wellington The block now offered for sale is the first instalment of a block of 220,000 acres purchased in the year 1865 from the natives, and is situated on the south bank of the Bangitikei Biver, having a frontage of about 10 miles, and •n average depth of three miles. It is intersected by numerous streams, contains considerable patches of available bush, and is of the finest description of agricultural land. The Bangitikei District, from which the Manavratu block is separated only by the river (fordabie at all points), contains a population of 8000 soulb, and has been in the possession and occupation of freehold farmers for nearly 20 years, and is travel sed in every direction by good metalled roads. The block offered for sale is within 30 miles of the port of Wanganui, within five miles of the mouth of the Rangitikei River, which is accessible to small coasters, and a road is in course of formation right through the block to the harbor of the Manawotu River, which is accessible to vessels drawing from eight to ten feet of water.
