RESIDENT MAGISTRATE'S COURT.
Monday, Januaby 80. (Before J. 0. Crawford, Esq., 3.M. HATHIMONIAL. Mrs Sarah Dunn sued her husband for maintenance for herself and four * children. From the evidence it was disclosed that the " green-eyed monster" waa at the bottom of the affair, and apparently was the direct cause of the matrimonial breach of happiness. Mrs Dunn has been living in Wellington, while her husband liv.cd at Nelson, and his wife alleged that he bad not sent her subsistence money regularly. This, however, defendant dearly showed was not the case, by the production of letters from the Postmaster at Nelson, to show that he hud made monthly remittance* for a number of months until Ihe last month. His Worship ordered Dunn to take the three eldest children and to pay 6s per week for the support of the youngest until it is 18 months old, and then to take, charge of it nlso. Defendant seemed perfectly satisfied with the arrangement, and paid £1 in advance. omiv. Oallaghan v. Smith Green. — Claim, £12 money lent. To this a'set off was put in by Mr Green, who said ho bad boarded and lodged Callaghan for the last six or seven months, during whfoh time he had been out of work. It was rather a difficult case to decide on, as there were no witnesses and each party denied the statements of the other. Mr Allan appeared for the defendant, plaintiff conducting his own case. After considerable examination on each side, judgment was ultimately given for defendant, with, costs £2. _____„_«,
