[Fbom Gbeville's Telegbam Company Eeuteb's Agents.] Napier, Friday. Mr H. Ormond was elected unopposed yesterday for the Clive District in the Assembly. Marton, Friday. At the Rangitikei election Mr Fox was returned. < There was no opposition. Auckland, January 26. A fire this morning destroyed a kerosene store containing 12,000 cases of kerosene for the town supply, valued at £1500. All uninsured. Swanson has been elected for Newton. At the Eden nomination the show of hands was in favor of Creighton. Kerr demands a poll. The City of Auckland lies in deep water. The attempts to raise her have been unsuccessful. Another deputation of unemployed waited on the Superintendent to-day, who instructed them to fnrnish him with a list of destitute unemployed. January 27. The committee on local industries have recommended moderate grants of land in aid of the growth of beet root, vine, and sericulture, and premiums for produce ; and also the introduction of a few French and Swiss immigrants. They have appointed a standing committee to urge the matter on the General Government. The damage to the City of Auckland is serious. The cargo is damaged. Estimated loss, £20,000. The ship will be raised to-morrow if possible.
