SALE OF LAND rar the RANGITIKELMANAWATU DISTRICT npHE PROVINCIAL GOVERNMENT OF WELLINGTON will sell by Public Auofcion, at the upset price of £1 per acre, a block of land of about 18,000 acres in the Manawatu Distriot. The sale will take place at the Land Office, Wellington, about the 27th FEBRUARY NEXT. Maps showing the position of the block in relation to the surrounding country, and giving a detailed plan of the sections offered for sale, will be visible at the Land Office on or after the 25fch Januwy. Lithographed copies may bo procured by application at the Provincial Secretary's office, "Wellington. The block now offered for sale is the first instalment of a block of 220,000 acres purchased in the year 1865 from the natives, and is situated on the south bank of the Rangitikei River, having a frontage of about 10 miles, and an average depth of three miles.. It is inter* seoted by numerous streams, contains considerable patches of available bush, and is of the finest description of agricultural land. The Rangitikei District, from which the Manawatu block is separated only by the river (fordable at all points), contains a population of 3000 bouls, and has been in the possession and occupation of freehold farmers for nearly 20 years, and is traversed in every direction by good metalled roads. The block offered for sale is within 30 miles of the port of Wanganui, within five miles of the mouth of the Rangitikei River, which is accessible to small coasters, and a road is in course of j formation right through the block to the I harbor of the Mnnawatu River, whioh is accessible to vessels drawing from eight to ten feet of water.
