A DENIAL.
* TO THE EDITOR OB THE INDEPENDENT. Sib, — An Auckland evening paper the other day, in an unusual flight of fanoy, informed the publio that "Mr Yogel * * takes home with him * *Mr Domett as Assistant-Secre-tary, with salary," &o. I should be obliged by your making it known that the statement is utterly without foundation. My son, to whom the notice alludes, did not go home as Mr Vogel's assistantsecretary, nor in any capacity connecting him with the Government in any way whatever. Such an idea had never entered his head, nor, I venture to say, Mr Vogel's, any more than mine, till I saw it expressed by your enlightened contemporary. — I am , &o, Aifeed Domett.
