[From Greville 's Telegram CompanyKetjtee's Agents.] HOKITIKA, Wednesday. Anthony Noble was yesterday condemned to death for the murder oi Mary Ann Mollaum. On receiving sentence, the prisoner was unaffected and callous. One of the witnesses in the case of Souter's who is condemned for murder, has been committed for perjury. PATEA, Wednesday. Carrington and Brown are the only candidates proposed for Grey and Bell. The show of hands was for Brown. Colonel Haultain left in the Rangatira for Auckland to-day. CHRISTCHURCH, Wednesday. E. 3. Wakefield has. been elected to the General Assembly for Christchurch East. The numbers were — Wakefield, 169 ; Duncan, 154. The result has created general surprise. DUNEDIN, Tbursday. At the Caversham nomination to-day Mclndoe, Coutrell, and Scott were proposed. The show of hands was in favor of Coutrell. The poll is on Monday. A criminal prosecution of the editor of the Otago " Daily Times," re tele* grams, takes place before Mr Strode, R.M., to-morrow.
