WAIRARAPA ELECTION.

TO THE EDITOR OE THB INDEPENDENT. Sib, — I believe the 28th instant is fixed for the election of two members of the House of 1 Representatives for this district. Rumor as-' eerfcs that Messrs Bunny and Andrews are sure to be the successful candidates. These two gentlemen have, at a series of meetings 1 which recently engrossed the attention of the ' electors of this district, declared their intention to Bupport the policy of the present Government. Mr Bunny, I believe, has been prevailed upon not to proceed to the Wairarapa, so as to be present at the forthcoming meeting at Wellington, and he doubtless with his usual ability will impress upon the electors the importance of electing two members for Wellington who aye favorable to a progressive state of things, as well as to unity of action on the part of the members of the Province. Mr Bunny, I bolievo, during the last session has taken an active part in the Gas Bill for the city. Would it not be an act of courtesy on the part of those electors who possess qualifications for the Wairarapa to pay a visit to 'this district at the approaohing eleotion, and testify by recording their votes in his favor, how much they appreciate his Bervices as a public man. Besides, a drive over our Alpine road, * with its unrivalled soenery and other attractions which the distriot affords during the harvest season, will, I am sure, afford to those accustomed to sedentary occupations a day of much pleasure and recreation. — I am, &c, Wairarapa Elector.
