THE STATUTES OF NEW ZEALAND.
■ v TO THE EDITOR OP THB INDEPENDENT. Sib, — Permit me through the columns of your widely circulated journal to inform my fellow settlers in fche Wairarapa, thafc through the courtesy of the Hon. the Premier I have received copies of those very important acts whioh have been passed by the General Assembly fche last session, and that the Hon. the Colonial Seoretary has been pleased to sanction the issue of the whole of fche statutes of New Zealand from 1865 to 1870 inclusive to the Masterton Institute for the information and guidance of (he sefcfclers of this district. As the Land Transfer Ac), of 1870 and other
acts are of such vital importance to the possessors of property, a perusal of fchem would be necessary fco understand and appreciate their wise and beneficial provisions, and with this view, and also wifch fche object of informing the settlers where fche aots can be seen, I eenfc a copy of the communication which accompanied the gift to the editor of our looal journal for publication, but that individual has in his very great wisdom thought fit fco decline to give ifc a place in fche columns of fche " Wairarapa Mercury," or to make known to the t setfclers the information which the letter conveys. You will therefore confer a favor by giving this lefcter a place in the Independent.— l am. &c, R. Habe. Masterton, sth January, 1871.
