TO THE ELECTORS OF THE CITX.OF WELLINGTON. GbntiißMEn, — At the request of a very large number of the truly independent electors of your City, I have consented to allow myself to be put in nomination as a candidate to represent you in the General Assembly. In consenting, at a great personal sacrifice, to endeavor to do my duty as a colonist by placing my humble abilities at your disposal, I beg it will be understood that I belong to no party, am not seeking for place, or power, and have no personal.interests to serve, nor malice to Bettle ; but if you elect me, I pledge myself to carefully study your interests in the House of Assembly in a straightforward manner, without any ulterior interest in view, such as might be attributed to my political opponents, Mesßrs Gillon & Plimmer. I have felt it ray duty, when called upon, to oppose Messrs G. &P. on political grounds. Personally I have a great respeot for these gentlemen, and I feel confident that neither of theße gentlemen would be guilty of inconsistency or " finudling" in any matter (my supporters, how ever, think differently) ; but I do consider them, on political grounds, totally unfit to represent you in the General Assembly. It is also said that Mr Gillon wants a billet, and Mr Plimmer a repetition of the Noah's Ark " fakement,". but on a larger scale. I flatter myself that my past career of more than twenty years amongst you will bear favorable comparison with that of either of these gentlemen, and I also think that as regards personal appearance I stand equally as well in the public opinion. "That's a licker." Having retired from the bootmaking business, and being at present engaged^n a little practical geology, and the study of greenstones (which may result beneficially to the colony at largo), I shall, wit!i this exception, devote the whole of my time to your interests. In conclusion, I may state that this is not my firßt appearance on the political Btage of this province, and I may add that my supporters on a former occasion, testified their sense .of my services by inviting me to a grand banquet in honor of my manly conduct, to which we all did ample justice. Trusting to meet you at an early date, I am, Gentlemen, Your obedient Bervant, F. H. BRADY. CALEDONIAN SOCIETY.
