SHIPPING SUMMARY.

Tho shipping during the month has consisted exclusively of the usual intercolonial and coasting arrivals and departures. No 'vessel from England lias arrived, the next one expected being the Melita, now 95 days out from London. The Eleetra has been alongside the wharf discharging cargo, and is now ready to take in wool. The Halcione is rapidly filling up with her homeward cargo of wool. She has now on board 1490 bales wool, 92 casks tallow, 8 tanks, 4 casks oil, 4 cases whalebone, 6 cases shells, 60 bags and 1080 2163 shank bones, 8 bales and 50 Backs leather. It is anticipated that by the end ;of next week she will be half loaded. A few cabins have been engaged, and it is exf pected that she will be despatched before the close of the present year. H.M.S. Blanche, which had been lying in our port for some time, sailed for tho Fijis, on the 11th, for the purpose of conveying orders to the Virago, which recently left Sydney for those islands. Soon, aftor the Blanche left intelligence was received that the Virago had been obliged to put into Auckland, being short of coal and having experienced bad weather. The Blanche is expected back here during the ensuing month. H.M.S. Challenger, Commodore Rowley Lambert, C.8., arrived on a flying visit from Melbourne on the 14th, and sailed again for that port on the 23rd, In Melbourne she will join the Flying Squadron, and accompany it to New Zealand. A smart little steamer, the Eagle, and a well known trader on the Australian coast, has paid the colony a brief visit, having come down from Sydney with a full cargo for this port and Dunedin, and having since made one or two trips on the coast.
