TESTIMONIALS TO CAPT. BISHOP AND THE OFFICERS OF THE HALCIONE.
The following testimonial has been presented to Captain Bishop by the passengers of the Halcione : — ■ To Thomas Bishop, Esq, captam of ship Halcione, of London. — Sir : Wo the undersigned, passengers by your ship tbo Halcione, from London to Wellington, N.Z., have upon the successful termination of the voyage, under fche favor of Divine Providence, greafc pleasure in expressing fco you our Bense of your uniform kindness and vigilant care for the safety and welfare of your passengers generally ; and notwithstanding that our passage has been somewhat more protracted than was expected from the qualities of your ship — owing to adverse weather prevalent throughout a great parfc of fche voyage — we are, however, satisfied thafc cautious and excellent seamanship under your command has accomplished the beet possible results towards securing to your passengers as prosperous and as rapid a passage as could be expected in the circumstance. And in this testimony to your merits, we beg leave to couple with yourself your fcwo officers, Messrs Wright and Wyke, both of whom have shown themselves to be most watchful and able seamen, and havo shown all readiness fco aid your desire to make our voyage a pleasant as well as a prosperous ono. Wishing yourself (including Mrs Bishop and the ship's favorite, Willie) all health and success, whether engaged in your nautical profession or in less perilous scenes ashore, — Wo are, Sir, yours respectfully, Geo. Lumsden, aud sixty others. Wellington, N.Z., Sep., 1869. Testimonials were also presented to Mr Wright, chief officer, and to Dr. Norris, surgeon.
